Appointments with Nurses
Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Ms Kerry McGough is our Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP).
She would be your first port of call to meet some of the urgent care needs that you would have previously seen your GP for. This is why when you call your GP surgery and explain your symptoms, you may be offered an appointment with an ANP.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners are experienced and highly educated nurses who support GPs to ensure patients receive a fast and efficient service. ANPs in GP surgeries are available to assess and treat those who require urgent care for conditions including shortness of breath, dizziness and joint pain.
ANPs have undertaken masters level training and education which enables them to assess you, make clinical decisions and prescribe you with the treatment you need without you needing to see your GP. However, they do work alongside the duty GP and can seek urgent advice and GP input if required.
Available on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays.
Practice Nurse
Our Nurse Kay Todd runs clinics for health promotion and chronic disease management.
She supervises our patient with Diabetes, hypertension, Asthma, Coronary Heart Disease and COPD. She also runs our smear clinic and follows up patients work with HRT, contraception, chronic condition management.
Kay is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
CTAC treatment room Nurse [Community Treatment and Care]
You can book appointments for:
- Blood tests
- Removal of sutures or staples after operations or injuries
- Wound care, including leg ulcers and post-surgical wounds
- Ear irrigation
- Injections
- Routine checks such as blood pressure monitoring or blood tests before annual reviews
- Other routine tests or services
You must be referred by a healthcare professional (such as a GP, nurse, or another clinician) before booking an appointment. You cannot self-refer for CTAC services.

District Nurse
District Nurses provide support to patients and their families, mainly in the patients own home.
Examples of care given by District Nurses and their team include:-
- Catheter care
- Nursing procedures including wound dressings or giving injections.
- Caring for the terminally ill.
- Providing equipment to help clients be independent.
- Providing emotional support to the family and carers.
District Nurses also have links with other community, social and voluntary services and will assist patients contact relevant services.
Your District Nurse can be contacted at your Health Centre. It may be possible to speak directly to a District Nurse, but if they are not available reception staff will ask for your name and telephone number and the District Nurse will call you back.
